functional principle | Gel permeation chromatography (GPC), also known as size exclusion chromatography (SEC), is a technique used to separate mixtures based on their size. Separated molecules are detected by a concentration detector (conventional detection), e.g. a refractive index detector (RI), whereby the result of the size distribution refers to the calibration with the polymer standards used. |
Typical applications | Characterization of natural and synthetic polymers, biopolymers, proteins and nanoparticles |
Norms and standards | Various chapters and monographs from EP and USP and other standards |
