COATING TESTS - corrosion protection
Coatings often have an aesthetic and/or protective (corrosion protection) function. How well the coating performs this function can be determined by means of targeted tests. Depending on the procedure, the coating is either damaged or left intact and then exposed to corrosive media and possibly to a mechanical load. Finally, the appearance (e.g. loss of gloss, color changes, infiltration, etc.) and/or the adhesion (e.g. by means of cross-cut adhesion testing) are assessed.
